Why You’ll Love Berries and Cream Overnight Oats
Protein and fiber are important to help you feel full and satisfied at breakfast. These Berries and Cream Overnight Oats have 25.5 grams protein and 11 grams fiber with just 5 simple ingredients.
The Greek yogurt and milk base makes these overnight oats creamy and high in protein. Oats and chia seeds add extra protein along with making them high in fiber. Blackberries and raspberries are high in fiber, so using a frozen mixed berry with these fruits adds even more fiber to these oats!
Ingredients
- Greek yogurt: makes these overnight oats high in protein. I used non-fat plain Greek yogurt. Any Greek yogurt can be used.
- Milk: thins the consistency of the Greek yogurt and provides the liquid for the oats and chia seeds to absorb. Also, adds more protein. I used 1% dairy milk. Any milk can be used, but plant-based milks are much lower in protein. Use soy milk to get similar protein content to dairy milk.
- Frozen mixed berries: adds natural sweetness and flavor. Use a blackberry, raspberry, and blueberry mixture to make it high in fiber. One cup of this berry mixture is about 7 grams fiber.
- Rolled oats: the carb source for energy. Also, provide extra protein and fiber.
- Chia seeds: high in fiber and omega-3 fats. Adds extra protein.
How to Make Berries and Cream Overnight Oats
In a blender, add Greek yogurt, milk, and mixed berries. Blend until mostly smooth.
Fill 4 mason jars about halfway with berry mixture. Add ½ cup oats and 1 tablespoon of chia seeds to each jar. Stir to combine. Pour in remaining berry mixture and stir to combine. The blending process adds air to the berry mixture, which may lead to the jars filling up quickly. Let sit for a few minutes and then stir contents of mason jar to make room for more berry mixture.
Put lids on mason jars and store in the refrigerator overnight or for a few hours. Top with berries in the morning and enjoy!
