Why You’ll Love High Protein Chickpea Cookie Dough Dip

My favorite part of baking as a kid was eating cookie dough. Most times I enjoyed the cookie dough more than the baked cookies. This chickpea cookie dough dip is a healthy version that allows you to enjoy the taste of cookie dough for a high protein and high fiber snack! A 1/3 cup portion provides 11 grams of protein and 2.5 grams of fiber.

I can eat this by the spoonful, but it goes great with apple slices, banana, graham crackers, and celery. Really anything that you would eat with peanut butter would go well with chickpea cookie dough dip.

I love peanut butter and can also eat it by the spoonful. However, it is quite calorically dense and if I eat too much it doesn’t sit well in my stomach. This dip only uses a quarter cup of peanut butter, yet it tastes like so much more is used.

Ingredients

  • Chickpeas: also known as garbanzo beans are a good source of folate and fiber, and provide some protein. Chickpeas are the base of hummus and can be used to make sweet dips like this one as well!
  • Milk: you just need a small amount to provide a little liquid to help smooth the chickpeas. I used almond milk, but any milk will work.
  • Honey: adds sweetness. You can adjust the amount you use based on your preference. The protein powder will also add sweetness depending on the brand you use.
  • Vanilla extract: adds flavor.
  • Peanut butter: adds flavor, fats, fiber, and protein! You can use any nut butter.
  • Protein Powder: adds protein of course and the powder helps thicken up the dip a bit. It will also add flavor and sweetness depending on the kind you use. I used my go-to vanilla protein powder that I use in baking that contains 24 grams protein per scoop. You can find it on Amazon here.
  • Chocolate chips (optional): chocolate chips add more sweetness and make it more like cookie dough. This dip tastes delightful on its own or you can mix in chocolate chips or just add on top.

How to Make High Protein Chickpea Cookie Dough Dip

In a food processor or large blender, add drained chickpeas, milk, honey, vanilla, peanut butter, and protein powder. Blend until smooth. It will take a few minutes for the chickpeas to be completely blended.

Chickpea cookie dough dip tastes delightful as is or you can fold in chocolate chips or sprinkle on top! Serve with fruit, graham crackers, or anything that is good for dipping.

How to Store High Protein Chickpea Cookie Dough Dip

Store chickpea cookie dough dip in an airtight container with lid in the refrigerator for about 4 days. It can also be frozen in an airtight container. Let it thaw in the fridge to soften before eating.

Tips

  • Blend well to make chickpeas smooth. Taste dip and if needed, continue to blend.
  • Add more honey or other sweetener per your preference. You can use stevia, Splenda, allulose, or sugar.
  • Use your favorite protein powder. Vanilla works well for a traditional cookie dough flavor, but you can use any flavor you prefer.
