Delicious and simple to make, these Greek Yogurt Bagels will be your new favorite thing to bake! An added plus is each bagel has 9.5 grams of protein.

Why You’ll Love Greek Yogurt Bagels
Who doesn’t love a good bagel? Unfortunately, regular homemade bagels can take 2 hours to prepare. These bagels are ready in about 40 minutes and are high in protein. The Greek yogurt simplifies this recipe while making each bagel have 9.5 grams of protein.
The base of the bagel is Greek yogurt, flour, baking soda, and salt. Add your favorite seasonings to make delicious high protein bagels. I made savory everything bagels and sweet cinnamon bagels. Lots of ways to enjoy Greek yogurt bagels for breakfast!

Ingredients
- Greek yogurt: provides moisture to the dough and makes these bagels high in protein. Greek yogurt works because it is thick. Regular yogurt will make the dough too sticky.
- Flour: the carb source. I used all-purpose flour. Whole wheat flour should also work well.
- Baking powder: makes the bagels rise.
- Salt: helps strengthen dough to help them rise.
- Egg: used for an egg wash on top of the bagels to give them shine and help the toppings stick. One egg can be used for four batches of this recipe.
How to Make Greek Yogurt Bagels
Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with a silicone baking mat or parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt (if making cinnamon bagels, add 2 tsp cinnamon).

Add yogurt to bowl. Use a wooden or silicone spatula to mix dough. Clumps should start to form. Use your hands to fully combine.

Flour a large cutting board or surface to knead dough. Divide dough into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball, then slightly flatten.

Form a hole in the middle (you can use the end of a measuring spoon to poke the hole). Another method is to roll the dough into a log and join the ends to create a circle. If dough is sticky, add a little flour.

Place bagels on prepared baking sheet. In a small bowl, whisk egg for the egg wash. Brush each bagel with egg wash and top with everything bagel seasoning (or cinnamon). Bake for 22-25 minutes, or until tops are slightly golden. Let cool before slicing.

Try Different Toppings
You can’t go wrong with a classic everything bagel! I also made cinnamon bagels by mixing cinnamon with the flour. You can use any seasonings you like to make your favorite bagels. Add ingredients in with the dough or just on top. A few ideas:
- Garlic and herbs
- Shredded cheese
- Pumpkin spice
- Chocolate chips
- Cocoa powder

Can you use any other kind of flour?
I’ve tried it with wheat flour and they turned out the same!
Made these with my 10 year-old. They were easy and turned out well! The bagels are pretty small, though.
Glad they turned out well! They aren’t giant bagels, but they still work well to use to make egg bagel sandwiches.
Do these freeze well?
Yes! When I make these, I usually make 2-3 batches to freeze. I move them from the freezer to the refrigerator at least the night before I want one to let it defrost.
So happy with how these turned out! First time making my own bagels and this recipe was so easy, definitely will be making them again.
Thanks!
I am so glad you enjoyed them! My goal is to share easy recipes!
Awesome recipe . Easy to make taste great!!
Love to hear that! Thank you!
I made these bagels for the first time day. They are amazing. So yummy, and easy to make.
Yay! Makes me happy hearing that.
I’m allergic to eggs, could the egg wash be omitted?
Hi! Yes, the egg wash is not necessary.
How do you store them? refrigerate?
You can store them like regular bagels. I refrigerate them and then toast them before eating. They also freeze well.
These bagels were so easy to do. I really love them. It was my 1st time making them!
Love that they were easy and you enjoyed them, Yolanda!
Does it have to be Greek yogurt or any yogurt?
Greek yogurt is thicker than regular yogurt, which helps create the right dough consistency. I haven’t tried making these with regular yogurt. It might work if the yogurt you use is thick.
I love that these can be made so quickly! My whole family loves them! Thank you!
Love to hear the whole family enjoys them!
